Short description: Problems of the influence of the industrial contamination on the livestock and on the health of the animals as well as accumulation of the toxins in the animal materials and products, toxicity tests and special ecotoxicological issues.
Full description: Basic terms of toxicology. Problems of the influence of the industrial contamination on the livestock and on the health of the animals as well as accumulation of the toxins in the animal materials and products, the effect of the intensive use of the fertilizers and pesticides on the toxicity of the feed, toxicity tests and special ecotoxicological issues.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge Student identifies and explains the global ecotoxicological problems Student has ability to characterize the effects of xenobiotics, due to the mechanisms of xenobiotics toxicity Student describes the relationship "dose - effect" using statistical programs Skills Student correctly and safely uses laboratory equipment as well as chemical reagents Student uses the spectrophotometric, potentiometric and conductivity methods for the determination of the level of xenobiotics in environmental and biological samples Student is able to calculate the toxic dose and to present and describe the effects of poisoning for xenobiotics Social competence Student is active in the search for effective and objective ecotoxicological tests Student is aware of the responsibility for the tasks performed together as a team Student follows the rules of health and safety in the analytical laboratory due to the possible contact with substances potentially toxic and irritating
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: Students with positive note from exercises are obligate to pass written test (6 open test questions, 1 point per question, the threshold to pass- 3.5 points, test duration 30 min., students which will have 100% attendance on the lectures will get 1.0 extra point) concerning the content of lectures (W1, W2, W3) . If the test is not passed in the first term, the student has the right to retake test, to the end of the examination session, on terms as in the first term.
